L’Oréal Files Suits Against Merck and Johnson & Johnson

Claims sunscreens violate a pair of its patents.

L’Oréal SA has filed lawsuits against Merck and Johnson & Johnson claiming their sunscreens use its patented ingredients. The suits were filed theU.S. District Court, District of Delaware on Jan. 27. The patents involved in the case are No. 5,576,354 and No. 5,587,150. They were granted to L’Oréal in 1996. Merck makes Coppertone sunscreen; Johnson & Johnson’s sunscreen brands include Aveeno, Neutrogena and RoC....
